Life

A YEAR OF CHANGE

There are only a few short moments left of 2011. It is almost overwhelming. So many wonderful things have happened this year, I find it almost bittersweet to turn a new leaf on a new year. As I write this post I cannot help but to think exactly how I felt this time last year; unfulfilled, miserable, trapped, uncertain, hopeful, desperate. I can now say I feel none of these things. I had a plan, a partner and undying commitment.

Things worked out. I was given an opportunity, an amazing “game changer.” Not a day goes by where I don’t take a moment to realize how incredible our life is.

Moving back to Maryland and being employed as a graphic designer makes every miserable moment of the past worth it. I am incredibly humbled as this year comes to a close. I am surrounded by amazing people who encourage me and accept me at my best and worst moments. I finally feel as if life as I envisioned it at 12 years old is finally coming true. I am a graphic designer. I even have business cards. I designed them. I have an amazing job and I work for incredible people.

I sincerely hope 2012 is the year I can enjoy the fruits of our labor. This year is about being in the moment and enjoying every second of every day.

Happy New Year! Bring it on 2012!!

WHEN I GROW UP

…I don’t want to settle for less. Ever.
I know how ridiculous I seem to be sometimes, but the bottom line is my life should not be less than what I think I deserve. And I am not up for settling.
This early-twenties thing is overrated. Does anyone else ever get that feeling?
Life is tough, and I am taking it one day at a time with specific goals in mind. And I don’t think there is anything wrong with that.
Here is to never settling. Despite the odds.

WHOA BLACK BETTY

This was by far my favorite commercial during the Super Bowl (yay! Steelers lose!) last night.

It wasn’t the funniest or the weirdest (yeah that is you Doritos) but it was the one that left me saying, “the was good.” Bravo Volkswagen, your marketing department has got it goin’ on!

COME ONE COME ALL

The Hubs and I just bought some new DVD storage and I found a gem I totally forgot I had.

Ahh. Don’t you just love the concept of the intro. It gets me every time.
I was obsessed with this mini-series when it first debut on HBO in 2003. My Dad and I were super into it, and we never missed a Sunday night episode. I was totally disheveled when they announced they weren’t bringing it back for a third season (that is the catch here people!). Any who, I NEED to tell you about it.

IMDB tells us:

“1934, America. The Dustbowl. A fugitive named Ben Hawkins finds refuge within a traveling carnival comprised of a tarot card reader and her catatonic/telekinetic mother, a blind mentalist, a bearded lady, and conjoined twins, amongst others. The carnival is owned by the mysterious and unseen Management, who has designs on the young Hawkins, for the boy is concealing an untapped gift: he can heal the lame and raise the dead–at a price. Ben also finds himself disturbed by cryptic and prophetic dreams, which he shares with a Methodist preacher in California, Brother Justin Crowe. Brother Justin, convinced by his dreams he is following God’s will, has begun to practice his own extraordinary talents, although the preacher’s plans increasingly lead to disturbing and tragic consequences. In this “last great age of magic,” Ben Hawkins and Justin Crowe are moving toward a great conflict between Good and Evil, although it not yet clear on which sides these men will stand. ”

If you do decide to watch I will warn you, be prepared for a lot of weird, but good weird, need to see more weird.

The styling of this series is flawless. I believe that is why they eventually had to cut the series, the production was just too expensive.

So before I get to rambling just way too much, Netflix this bad boy. Or go here and here to purchase. You will not regret it. I highly recommend it! In fact the Hub’s has never seen it, we might need a snow day to bury in and do the damn thing!

Let me know what you think! I would love to know if anyone else likes this kind of stuff too, any and all opinions are welcome!

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

There is nothing about Coldplay that doesn’t make me swoon. We even utilized their talents for our wedding song. Yes, it is that serious.

Then this morning I saw this, and I think I am even more in love.

There is nothing about this video I don’t love. The song, that piano, the Elvis characters playing violin.

Swoon.
