Hey there! My name is Jessie-Lee Nichols. I’m 24 years old and very much trying to find my place in the design community. I am fortunate enough to be married to my “college sweetheart,” Jonathan (aka: Jon, the Hubs) and we are truly happy to simply share our lives with one another. Despite how different our interests and ambitions in life may be we very much enjoy each other’s company and could not imagine our lives with anyone else. We have one big fat fur-baby, a wonderful gray kitty named Woody. He truly is our pride and joy, just ask his proud Papa! I graduated in 2009 with a BA in Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design from Lynchburg College, in Lynchburg, Virginia. We have recently made a move to Maryland’s Eastern Shore, where I had the pleasure of growing up. Our jobs have extended us to historic Annapolis, Maryland where we hope to reside in the near future.

The Hyphen Tantrum is my own personal online journal. I find it extremely difficult to keep up with bookmarks, I overwhelm myself completely. Here I can share with others the wonderful findings that inspire me personally and professionally. I really discovered the vast amount of blogs out there while wedding planning. I quickly became addicted to all the visual merriments to be had out there! Since I started contributing to the blogging world in June of 2010 I find myself unable to do much else. Blogging has quickly become a passion, and I aspire to do it as much as I can for as long as I am able.

What’s In A Name?

I have had many ask me exactly what “The Hyphen Tantrum” is all about, well here is the whole truth and nothing but the truth. You have probably noticed by now that my first name includes a hyphen (-). This was something both my parents happened to be very proud of when I was a child, in fact they still haven’t let up on it. That one little character has been an overwhelming obstacle my whole life! No one can ever accept that is is part of my name. Every legal document I have ever had to fill out has been a challenge, I always end up throwing a full on tantrum (no matter where I am, mind you) about my darn hyphen. So there you have it, it really is nothing more than my own personal lifelong battle. When I started contemplating names for a personal blog, I could think of nothing more perfect and reflective of who I am then to emphasize that hyphen!
